(KarachiCliffNews): Two-day First Invention to Innovation Summit Sindh 2016 is being organized from Tuesday (today) at the Arts Building, University of Karachi. Event is being organized by South Asia Triple Helix Association (SATHA), Institute of Research Promotion (IRP), Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), University of Karachi and Justice Helpline. This was announced by Prof. Dr. Aliya Rehman, Director, Office of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC), University of Karachi, Mr. Rehmatullah, General Secretary South Asia Triple Helix & Representative Institute of Research Promotion (IRP) Lahore, Dr. Rashida R. Zohra, Incharge Annual Innovation Summit Pakistan, President Justice Helpline Nadeem Shaikh Advocate and Rashid Ansari, President Ansari Foundation in a joint press briefing held here at Justice Helpline Secretariat on Monday. Prof. Dr. Aliya Rehman said that this summit is a successful event in getting together the academia, industry & government organizations for science, technology and innovation. The summit is planned to encourage the students, faculty and the researchers link their research work with needs of industry and society. We request all the people to come to summit and appreciate university efforts in developing innovative solutions using indigenous resources, she added. Mr. Rehmatullah, General Secretary South Asia Triple Helix & Representative Institute of Research Promotion (IRP) Lahore told that event is organized with theme “Prompting Innovation-Building Innovative Sindh.” More than 300 innovative projects will be displayed in technology expo and 100 viable technologies will be presented in technology sessions for industry and society. Industry and universities both will showcase their innovative developments presenting opportunities for new ventures and solutions to local problems, he added. Chief guests of the summit will be Chairperson Sindh Board of Revenue Naheed Memon and Vice Chancellor University of Karachi Prof. Mohammad Qaiser. There will be an exhibition and technology expo alongwith this summit. Awards will be presented by Consulate General of Malaysia Mr. Ismail Muhammad Bkri, he informed. Dr. Rashida R. Zohra, Incharge Annual Innovation Summit Pakistan said that students, scientists and R&D oriented industry will be given Innovation Awards, Technology Award, Award for Business Plans, AFAQ Award for ICT for Schools and Award for Chemical Technology by chemistry. There will be sessions on topics including technologies for medical diagnostic sector, life science technologies for product development, business plan competition (prescreening of proposals), role of public policies for science, technology and innovation, technologies for information & communication sector, SATHA innovation award, fund winning opportunities for academia and industry, business plan competition, technologies for oil & gas sector, technologies for healthcare industry, technologies for post-harvest management industry, technologies for textile and leather processing, innovative solutions-processers models and marketing ideas, technologies for water and energy sector, she told. Vice chancellors from 10 universities of Sindh will be guests in different sessions. Students from 30 universities and 20 schools from government and private sectors will display their projects, she added. President Justice Helpline Nadeem Shaikh Advocate said that students and researchers are the main source behind innovations in any nations. “Our kids are not less competent from any other nation and they are doing wonders at national, and international level. We all should encourage these students, youth so they should perform better. We should make linkages between academia and industry for utilization and involvement of this talent,” he added.
