Shabir Iqbal to face Challenge in retaining Sindh Open Golf

Karachi(Cliff News) Defending Champion Shabir Iqbal will face tough challenge from his opponents in the Coca Cola 18th Sindh Open Golf Championship 2016 which begin here Friday morning August 19th , 2016 at Arabian Sea Country Club.Leading the challenge in the three round 54 holes championship will be Matloob Ahmed, Muhammad Munir , Waheed Baloch and over 70 Professionals who have entered Rs. 3 Millions Prize Carrying Fray.Coca Cola Beverages Pakistan Limited is the Main Sponsor while Jubilee General Insurance is Co-Sponsor and Pak Suzuki, Yamaha Motors and Avery Scales are supporting sponsors.The three round event will be played over 54 holes with the cut coming at the end of the second round. The competition carrying Rs. 3 million in prize money will have an additional attraction for both the pros and the amateur golfers.The winner in the main professional, senior professional the junior professional and the amateur event will get a Yamaha motor cycle as prize along with the cash and other prizes.Pak Suzuki has participated as a supporting sponsor by putting a Suzuki Swift for the winner of Hole-in-One.The main Professional and the Amateur Event will be contested over 54 holes and Senior Professional and Junior Professional will be played over 36 holes.Sindh open is among the Ivy League golf competition of the country alloted to various clubs and cities by Pakistan Golf Federation which control the sports in the country.The championship will be organized under the umbrella of Sindh Golf Association.Recent monsoon rains have helped the Arabian Sea Country Club greatly. The fairways are lush green and the greens and putting greens perfectly fast and fit for golfers to clinch good scores.

The junior professional golf event is new attraction for the pro section.The PGF has introduced the event to encourage youngsters and to rein in emerging young talent. Junior professionals will compete for Rs.200,000 cash prize set aside for the event.The main professional event will carry Rs. 2.3 million in cash prize money with top forty and ties who could make the cut to share the prize money.The senior section of the professional competition is carrying Rs.300, 000 in prize money. Imdad Hussain won the senior event last year.The encouraging part of the 18th edition of the championship is the interest shown by various sponsors led by Coca-Cola which had always supported the event. Jubilee General Insurance is the co-sponsor of the Championship.
