KARACHI(Cliff News)To celebrate Independence Day of Pakistan a festival cricket match was played between the Omar Gladiators Veterans Team and NayaNazimabad Veterans Team under floodlights on Saturday night at Lawai Cricket StadiumNayaNazimabad. Omar Gladiators Veterans won the match by 7 wickets.Arif Habib captain of NayaNazimabad Veterans decided to bat first after winning the toss. NayaNazimabad Veterans scored 127 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allocated 22 overs. Shipper Arif Habib opening the innings was the top scorer with 25 runs scored in 38 balls with 1 four. Khalid scored 24 runs in only 13 balls and AnisYounus scored 14 runs. Nadeem Omar, Fawad Ijaz Khan, Hasan Omar and Masroor took 2 wickets each for 12, 31, 33 and 34 runs respectively.In reply Omar Gladiators Veterans scored the winning target of 128 runs for the loss of only 3 wickets in the 21th over. Ahmed Hayat played brilliantly and scored a fine innings of 43 not out in only 24 balls with 4 fours. Naseem Rajput scored 34 not out in 32 balls and Fawad Ijaz Khan scored 19 runs. Qaiser, Raees and Rashid took 1 wicket each.At the conclusion of the match a prize distribution ceremony was held. Ahmed Hayat was declared Man of the Match, Arif Habib Best Batsman and Hasan Omar Best Bowler.
