Karachi(Cliff News)Lucky Cement Limited reported net profit of PKR 3.24 billion for the first quarter ended September 30, 2016 which is 9.1% higher than the same period last year. Consequently, the earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter increased to PKR 10.01 compared to PKR 9.18 reported during the same period last year.The Company’s net sales revenue increased by 2.3% to PKR 10.57 billion compared to PKR 10.33 billion reported during the same period last year. The increase in net sales revenue was mainly attributable to increase in sales volume.The local sales volume of the Company during the first quarter registered a growth of 25.4% to 1.34 million tons compared to 1.07 million tons reported same period last year, whereas export sales volume registered a decline of 27.2% to 0.36 million tons compared to 0.49 million tons for the same period last year.On a consolidated basis, Lucky Cement reported net profit of PKR 3.78 billion for the first quarter ended September 30, 2016 which is 14.6% higher compared to the same period last year. Consequently, consolidated EPS during the first quarter increased to PKR 11.69 compared to PKR 10.20 reported during the same period last year.Lucky Cement also reported progress on its key foreign and local projects i.e., fully integrated Cement Manufacturing Plant in the Democratic Republic of Congo, fully integrated green field Cement Manufacturing Plant in Punjab province, brown field expansion (installation of new production line) at Karachi Plant, 1 X 660 MW, supercritical, coal based power project at Port Qasim and 10 MW WHR plant (Kiln) at Pezu Plant.Lucky Cement Limited continues to play a significant role in CSR, and in this regard the company offered merit-based scholarships to deserving students in various prestigious institutions. The company also supported the Hub School project for the smooth running of their operations.Furthermore, the company donated towards the cause of community development by supporting the CPLC, an institution responsible for the safety and security of citizens in Sindh.Under the domain of offering affordable and quality healthcare to those in need, the Company continued its support to Aziz Tabba Foundation, one of the most prominent philanthropic institutions in Pakistan which runs the affairs of a leading cardiac hospital and a leading kidney center in the country.
