In the other four Southern Zone matches of the competition held over the weekend at the same venue, Karachi Factdate Engineering overwhelmed Karachi Mannan XI by nine wickets, Karachi Gold Bridge Media defeated Karachi NIC by 51 runs, Karachi Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) outwitted Karachi Naya Nazimabad by seven wickets and Karachi Airport Gymkhana whipped Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) by nine wickets. A record number of 111 teams from all parts of the country are contesting the tournament, being organized by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) for the eighteenth year running. Aggressive knocks from opener Sajid Ali (56 off 38 balls), Azhar Khan (35 off 22 balls) and Iqbal Shaikh (34 off 24 balls) allowed Karachi Omar Associates to post an imposing total of 176 for six in the allotted 20 overs and they routed Karachi A A Pakwan for 91 in 19.4 overs to win the match comprehensively with Mohammad Yousuf (2-7) and Iqbal Shaikh (2-8) being the most successful bowlers Ali Nawaz and Mohammad Javed starred in Karachi Factdate Engineering’s to nine-wicket victory over Karachi Mannan XI. Left-arm Ali Nawaz’s spell of five for 17 sent Karachi Mannan XI crashing to 98 all out in 19.3 overs. Then opener Mohammad Javed blasted an unbeaten 87 off mere 31 balls to help his team reach the target of 99 in a matter of eight overs. Karachi Naya Nazimabad, despite fine knocks from opener Irfan Ali (42 off 28 balls) and Mohammad Naveed (32 off 35 balls), was bowled out for 126 in 19.3 overs by Karachi RLCA, driven by the unbroken 95-run fourth wicket partnership between Asif Siddiqui (56 off 24 balls) and Omar Masood (47 off 21 balls), raced to the target in only 11 overs. The brilliant unbeaten knocks from Manzoor Hussain (71 off 78 balls) and Kamil Mahmood (39 off 21 balls), who added quickfire 65for the sixth wicket, helped Karachi Gold Bridge Media post a commanding total of 185 for four and they bowled out Karachi NIC for 134 in 19.2 overs to win the match comfortably.
