Karachi (Cliff News)Omar Associates Seniors edged out the visiting Canadian Seniors cricket team, comprising of over-40 players, by two runs despite a fantastic knock from Zulfiqar Khan, in a thrilling Twenty20 floodlit match at here at theMoin Khan Academy late on Tuesday evening.Batting first, after winning the toss, Omar Associates Seniors scored 148 for nine in the allotted overs. The Canadians looked in control before losing their way in the final overs to be restricted to 146 for five. Zulfiqar Khan was declared Man of the Match for his 63-ball 91.The Canadian left-arm seamer KamranNabi (3-21) rattled the top order as Omar Associates Seniors found themselves precariously placed at 28 for four.Azhar Khan’s 44 off 31 balls, containing two sixes and four fours, revived the home side but they were unable to break free in the death overs due to brilliant spell from left-arm spinner Raja Imran (2-18).Chasing a target of 149 in 20 overs, the Canadians were put in the driving seat by opener Zulfiqar Khan, who hammered one six and 12 fours in his aggressive knock of 91 coming from only 63 deliveries.Omar Associates Seniors fought back through their spinners. Off-spinner HarisAyaz picked up a couple of wickets on successive deliveries in a tight spell of four overs yielding only 16 runs.Canada Seniors, who needed 22 from the last two overs with as many as eight wickets in hand, lost three quick wickets including that of the well set ZulfiqarKhan. Left-arm spinner Jaffer Qureshiand leg-spinner Badar Ansari finished off accurately to fashion two-run victory for the home side.It was second defeat in as many games for Canada Seniors as they had previously lost to PVCA Seniors by 14 runs at the National Stadium after having outgunned Sui Southern Gas Limited Company Limited (SSGC)Seniors by four wickets in the opening fixture at the NBP Sports Complex.They will be playing three more matches during the tour, having been organized by the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) and sponsored by Omar Associates (Pvt) Ltd.The visitors will meet Naya NazimabadSeniors at Lawai Stadium on Thursday (today) while they will be taking on Rashid Latif Academy Seniors at the UBL Sports Complex on Saturday with their sixth and final match to be held against Omar Associates Seniors on Sunday.
