Abdul Hameed Painting Exhibition starts at Majmua Art Gallery Karachi

Karachi(Cliff Report)Abdul Hameed has been painting Karachi and old buildings of Pakistan for the last  12  years. He paints oils on canvas  in an elegant style mainly  using hues of cepia, gold , blue from the colour pallette and paints mostly on  spot. His passion at preserving Karachi old buildings deserves kudos as like Yasmeen Lari as  their sandstone  material have either eroded with time and pollution or  got broken and chipped in places with the political parties using graffitti or  nailing in their banners in these grand regalia , a heritage left by the colonists.  This is Abdul Hameed second show at Majmua The ART gallery and the first one was also very successful. In this show he has painted, The MOHATTA PALACE, THE DJ SCIENCE, KMC BUILDING, ZEBUNISSA STREET, EMPRESS MARKET , JODIA BAZAR, DENSO HALL , MEREWEATHER TOWER. The artist has created has cleverly painted each painting composing it , with an idea of depth in perspective and the play of light and shade is brilliantly utilised. I would say that he has greatly improved from his previous show.
His love for his city is very apparent  KMC BUILDING which is idyllically hidden in the foilage and the blending  of gold and amber tones suggest the beauty of the buildng rising out of the trees. The artist is  self taught  and worked under a teacher and is basically living a simple life.People interested in art and its promotion to definately see this lovely celebration of Karachi. The show can be picked up by the state bank, culture department or even the  KMC building. It definately deserves  a special place as a preserver of history on canvas.
