He recorded 10 birdies in the 54 hole 3 round Rs. 3.0 Million prize carrying Championship 3 shots away in the 2nd place emerged Abid Rana of Karachi Golf Club with 7 under 65 followed by Shahid Hameed of Gymkhana Club in the third place 4 under 68.Top ranking Muhammad Munir Logged 3 under 69, while Matloob Ahmend finished the opening round with 1 under 71.As much as 96 professionals, belonging to 48 golf courses of the country, started on a beautiful sunny morning on a course which is known as one of the best in the region.Right from starts, Shabbir Iqbal showed his class and skills as he launched himself to defend the title. Which he had won so convincingly last year.The other golfers watched helplessly as Shabbir iqbal took immediate lead over others by repeated birdies on the front line and when he turned for home back line he again excelled to finish the day in the first round with the certainty to retain the title.With two rounds to go he had a three strokes lead over his next challenger Abid Rana.The Golf like Cricket is full of uncertainties and anything can happen in the next two days.
